Garden Fest in Orange Village

Orange Community Education & Recreation presents Garden Fest 2013, a gardening festival on Saturday, May 18 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. It will be held at the Pepper Pike Learning Center on the Orange School Campus at 32000 Chagrin Blvd., Pepper Pike, OH 44124.

Free admission.

This outdoor event will feature vendor booths brimming with plants, annuals, perennials, herbs, arts & crafts, antiques, garden & outdoor products, jewelry, floral décor, etc., plus landscape & design firms too. Be sure to stop by the food booths featuring woodfired pizza, Cupcake-A-Licious gourmet cupcakes, cakepops and other bakery, kettle corn and more.     

Proceeds will benefit the Orange Senior Center, a program of Orange Community Education & Recreation

2013 Buckeye Wheelchair Games

The 2013 Buckeye Wheelchair Games are scheduled for May 17-18, 2013. Competitive events will take place at the SPIRE Institute located at 1822 South Broadway in Geneva, Ohio. The Games promote rehabilitation through rigorous competition in such events as air guns, archery, bowling, field events, billiards, slalom, swimming, table tennis, track, bocce and weightlifting.

It’s that time of the year when people start counting down the days until their summer vacation. 

TripAdvisor released a study listing popular Memorial Day and summer travel plans and activities. 

According to the study, one third of Americans will be traveling on Memorial Day for one or more of these top five activities:  attending a cookout, shopping, swimming, hiking or attending a festival. 

The study also indicates a 7 % increase in planned summer vacations.  Of the 86% planning a trip, 74% will drive, 64% will fly and 11% will take a train. 

Popular vacations include an escape to the ocean or a visit to a large city like New York, Boston, Washington D.C., San Francisco or Chicago. 

TripAdvisor says people will be indulging in ice cream, seafood, margaritas, beer and iced tea. 

Top activities include shopping, swimming, museum visits, national or state park visits and cookouts.
